Garage Sale!

Garage sales are a lot of work. I mean, A LOT of work. I don't think we would have been able to do this garage sale without Damon's mom, Diana. She does a lot of garage sale shopping during the season and can find some of the best deals out there. She also has a house, with the requisite garage, to hold a sale. That meant, though, that we had to get all of the stuff up to her house. I did a bunch of purging of my stuff, and we had two different friends offer up stuff as donations to sell. One of those friends had been planning their own garage sale, it just never happened. That means, there was a lot of stuff to get to a town a half an hour away.

We started Wednesday, hauling stuff from around the area up to her house, taking over her garage. I went up both Thursday and Friday to help sort stuff and take up more stuff. I did probably three rounds of purging this last week. We were still bringing stuff up on Saturday morning. Yep. It feels good to have gotten as much out of the house as we did. I did pull out some book shelves that could have hung out for another month or so, helping keep things organized, but now I have an impetus to get my craft room picked up, because it currently is a disaster. Just one more of the thousands of things that needs to get done before we leave. I'm okay with that though.

These two days were a good measure of the stuff we have been getting rid of over the past few weeks. I know that Damon is able to let go of quite a bit of stuff more easily than I can, but it still feels good to be able to make clear minded decisions about what to keep and what to sell or toss. I'm also going to be really excited to get all of the tubs that have been storing stuff for the garage sale back, so I can pack into them. :-)

We finished up the sale having made $831 in two days. It's not bad for two days work, plus everything leading up to it. We still have quite a bit of stuff to either sell on Offer Up/Craigslist/etc or take to Half Price Books/Value Village. Right now, my jeep is packed to the gills with our first load and I will have to do at least another load on Tuesday. Lots of stuff. But it is gone and not coming back into the house (except the stuff we want to sell for some money), but all of that is going to go by the end of next week.
